  • Takedown Defended: 0

He doesn’t have the prettiest record on the UFC roster but, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black belt and kickboxing Black belt Gerald ‘GM3’ Meerschaert will be hunting for his twenty-third submission victory this weekend in Vegas.

GM3 holds one of the most dangerous ground games in the UFC Middleweight division and usually looks to capitalize on said skill throughout the majority of his contests. That said, he’s also a proficient Black belt in kickboxing and walks around with a huge reach advantage. He will enter this contest with a 5-4 record in the UFC but we should note that his four losses have come up against some of the division’s best (Thiago Santos, Jack Hermansson).

  • Takedown Defended: 46%

Rising (UFC) middleweight prospect ‘Deron Winn’ is no stranger to combat sports. High-School wrestling state champion, two-time junior college champion and three-time all American at University, the resume isn’t too shabby for the American Kick-Boxing Academy hopeful.

Winn has the strongest base in mixed martial arts covered, his wrestling. With the reach advantage obvious, finding his way inside of his challenger’s distance hasn’t been a problem for Winn. The potential for greatness is there, Winn has to piece together the puzzle in order to take over the game.

Ufc 248 Betting Odds Against

At the end of the day

A clear disadvantage for Winn is going to be the height and reach of GM3. The aggression paired with his wrestling offense might not be enough to make up for that lack in size.

I can’t agree with the current line. +125 on the more seasoned fighter is screaming “value”, in my humble opinion.

I have no fear in placing a half unit wager on the juicy +125 we can grab GM3 at. Remember to find the best odds using SBROdds, finding value will dramatically affect your long-term betting investment.

Giga Chikadze vs. Jamall Emmers

Ufc 248 Betting Odds Nfl Week 11

Featherweight Bout
Saturday, March 07, 2020 – 06:35 PM EST

Opening Line: Jamall Emmers -165 at BetOnline

Giga Chikadze

  • Age: 31
  • Nationality: Georgian
  • Record: 8-2-0
  • Height: 6ft 0.5”
  • Reach: 74”
  • Current Streak: 3 wins
  • Gym: Kings MMA Anaheim
  • Notable Gym Members: N/A
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 5
  • Wins by Submission: 2
  • Decision wins: 1
  • Significant Strikes (UFC)
  • Landed Per Min: 3.33

  • Defense: 52%
  • Grappling (UFC)
  • Takedown Average: 0.51
  • Takedown Accuracy: 32%
  • Takedown Defended: 56%

Giga will be hoping that his opponent will want to test his kickboxing skills In their early preliminary contest at UFC 248.

The former K1 world champion (x2), Karate world champion and European Muay Thai champion will hold a strong offensive striking skill-set. Giga failed in his attempt on ‘Dana White Contender Series’ but ignoring his quality would be stupid.

Jamall Emmers

  • Age: 28
  • Nationality: England
  • Record: 11-1-0
  • Height: 6ft 3”
  • Reach: 73.5”
  • Gym: UTC Birmingham
  • Notable Gym Members: N/A
  • Current Streak: 1 win
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 4
  • Wins by Submission: 6
  • Decision wins: 1
  • Significant Strikes (UFC)
  • Landed Per Min: 3.85
  • Accuracy: 49%
  • Defense: 65%
  • Grappling (UFC)
  • Takedown Average: 0
  • Takedown Accuracy: 0%
  • Takedown Defended: 72%

With his wrestling/kickboxing base, Emmers will make his long-awaited UFC debut this weekend at UFC 248.

He made an attempt at UFC glory in the past but, was unfortunately knocked out in his ‘Dana White Contender Series’ opportunity. Since that loss, he’s gone on to win his previous four fights, all of them inside the distance.

At the end of the day

I think, so long as Giga can avoid a grappling battle throughout the three, five-minute rounds he’ll have a great time standing. Taking a look at his past fights, another strong grappler in Brandon Davis was able to take Giga down but was unable to keep him there. This eventually led to Giga stealing the split decision with his striking output.

In my opinion, Giga has already tackled a grappler in the UFC and his opponent will be making his UFC debut. Making a betting prediction for this one isn’t an easy one. That is until you take a glance at the odds available. Time and time again, you’ll hear me complain about debutant UFC fighters entering the contest as the bookmakers favorite. It’s absurd…

We’ll see an elite striker versus a wrestler with kickboxing. I’ll side with the plus money, striking champion across multiple combat sports and most importantly, the fighter who’s already experienced life under the bright lights of the UFC.

UFC 248 Prediction: Giga Chikadze to win +145 at 5Dimes

The 248th edition of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to go off at the T Mobile Arena in Paris, Nevada on Saturday, March 7. The biggest MMA division on the planet usually lines up a top headline fight and once again, UFC has not let us down.

Billed as Adesanya vs Romero, the main event is a middleweight championship bout and, when there’s a title on the line, the sportsbooks will get busy in the lead up to the first bell.

The Headliner

The headline battle at UFC 248 is the middleweight title fight between reigning champion Israel Adesanya and his challenger, Yoel Romero. Early indicators suggest that Adesanya is set for a successful defence and he is currently available in the moneyline markets at 1.40 with PowerPlay. It’s a figure that leaves Romero out at 3.25 with Bet365 and there’s little to suggest that the sportsbooks haven’t got this right.

The tale of the tape shows us that Adesanya, who goes by the curious nickname of the Last Stylebender, has a perfect record of 18 wins in 18 fights with 14 of those victories being secured by knockout. Former American Olympic wrestler Romero has 13 wins and four defeats in 17 outings and while he can be dangerous in the right conditions, that’s a modest return to say the least.

The sportsbooks will get fully behind this one in the lead up to the first bell but at the time of writing, we just have that straight moneyline bet. Look out for the props in the days that follow but for now, let’s take a look at the rest of this UFC 248 card.

The Undercard

There are 11 fights in total on the card for UFC 248 and the night’s events begin with a bantamweight matchup between Danaa Batgerel and Guido Cannetti. There’s plenty to enjoy and a number of bouts to bet on but the highlight of the undercard is a women’s strawweight championship match between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Weili is the defending champion at this level and she will start as the hot favourite at odds of 1.51 with Spin Sports. Challenger Jedrzejczyk is the outside bet at 2.30 with 10Bet so is this another simple case of getting behind the short-priced fighter?

We suspect that this battle has more chance of producing an upset than the UFC headliner. Polish fighter Jedrzejczyk is a former champion in this division and is ranked number four in the world. She has won just 16 of 19 fights while her opponent Zhang Weili has a better record of 20 wins from 21.

Once again, there are no prop bets right now so it’s all about calling the result.

Verdict

Ufc 248 Betting Odds Sportsbook

We’re certainly not going to make a case for an upset in the main fight at UFC 248. Not only has Yoel Romero lost four of his 17 MMA bouts to date, but he’s also been defeated in three of his last four outings and looks to be a fighter on the slide.

Those win odds on the favourite of 1.40 could be shorter so we would advise taking them for a likely profit. When the Method of Victory betting opens for this headliner, we would also suggest looking to back Adesanya to win by KO.

In the women’s title battle, it could be much closer as the two fighters are tightly matched in the women’s pound for pound rankings. We’re going to take a punt this time and back Jedrzejczyk for the win. If you disagree, we would suggest waiting to back Weili by Decision as this should be a tough battle.
